Veestro Meal Delivery Program (Review)
If you’re looking for a vegetarian weight loss program or a vegan plan for weight loss there aren’t many options to choose from. Some commercial diet programs provide diet-friendly vegetarian meals but sometimes the entrees are heavily processed and there aren’t many plant-based diet meals to choose from. But Veestro delivers vegan and vegetarian weight loss meals to your door and is a good option for some dieters.
Veestro Vegan and Vegetarian Meals for Dieters
Veestro delivers organic, non-GMO, plant-based meals throughout the country (except Hawaii and Alaska). The food is cooked fresh in Southern California, frozen immediately, packed in dry ice and shipped to customers via FedEx Ground. No preservatives are used in Veestro foods.
Veestro customers can either purchase meals a la carte or buy meal packs that are designed for specific nutritional goals. For example, there is a gluten-free meal pack, a high protein meal pack and also a complete plan for people who are trying to lose weight.
The Veestro weight loss program is designed to provide up to 1,200 calories per day. Dieters can choose from three different plans depending on the number of meals that they want provided per day. The most comprehensive plan provides 42 meals every 2 weeks or three meals per day. The total cost is $329.00 or $7.83 per meal*.
Veestro Diet Meal Delivery Pros and Cons
Veestro is a very good diet-delivery service, whether you’re trying to lose weight or not. But, if you are trying to slim down, I think the weight loss plan is exceptionally simple and would be easy for any dieter to follow. In addition, there are a few other features that stand out.
- Great taste: Veestro meals are delicious. Even for a meat-eater like myself, I found the meals to be exceptionally savory and satisfying. The Soba Noodles with Peanut Sauce was amazing. If you are trying to go meatless for the first time, this would be a great program to try because you don’t feel like you are giving up any hearty taste or filling foods with these meals.
- Basic ingredients. You’ll find a complete Nutrition Facts label online and on each Veestro meal. When you scan the ingredients list, it’s easy to recognize each of the foods listed. This is important if you plan to eventually learn how to make your own diet vegan or vegetarian meals at home. You can easily go to the grocery store and find all of these ingredients to cook with yourself.
- Simple process. Buying Veestro meals is easy. The company provides the cost of each meal and the price for every program up front. This (uncommon) transparency allows you to easily calculate the cost of your diet meals so that you can stick to your budget.
There was really only one thing that I did not like about Veestro and that was the packaging. The shipping package was quite messy and when the food arrived, it was not in great shape.
Many of the plastic packages were cracked or completely broken and several of the cellophane tops were torn. Before I ate my (albeit delicious) Tuscan Calzone I had to pick broken plastic pieces out of the food. The packaging problems did not affect the taste or quality of the food, but it was somewhat disappointing.
In addition, some dieters may also be frustrated with the varied reheating instructions. While most diet delivery meals are microwavable, not all Veestro meals can be reheated in the microwave. Some have to be thawed in advance, some have to be reheated in the oven and some can be microwaved.
So planning in advance is important on this plan.
Overall, I really liked Veestro. The food quality was very good, the online ordering process is simple, and there are no hidden costs. Even though the packages were in bad shape, the meals reheated well. I hope that the packaging issue improves, but even considering that issue, I think this is a great option for dieters looking for vegan or vegetarian meals for weight loss.
