These Plastic Sandals and Shoes Contain Materials Dangerous for Your Health
The internet has been abuzz about the popular plastic shoes, commonly known as Crocs. These shoes, which are considered comfortable and ugly at the same time, have been associated with some serious effects on the health.
The Crocs first hit the market in the early 2000’s but became popular 10 years later. Since then, they have been used as an alternative to flip-flops, sandals, and indoor footwear. However, no matter how comfortable they seem, they can be detrimental to the health.
Crocs and Foot Health
According to one podiatrist, Dr. Meagan Leahy, Crocs are not a suitable replacement for proper footwear and they don’t provide proper security to the heel. As a result, the toes can grip and trigger tendinitis, worsening of toe deformities, calluses, and nail issues.
Crocs And Cancer
A lab analysis conducted in Germany discovered that rubber clogs similar to Crocs and knock-offs of Crocs are packed with highly cancerous substances. These substances can be absorbed through the skin. It has been shown that six out of the 10 shoes contain cancerous chemicals called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons have been linked to an increased risk of developing lung, liver and skin cancers.
The American brand Crocs contains substances that can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. Therefore, you should make sure you and people around you stop wearing Crocs. This goes especially for children. However, if you insist on wearing them, remember to buy the original Crocks. Avoid buying cheap knock-offs, which contain cancer-causing chemicals.
Moreover, you should always smell the shoes before buying them. So, if the shoes release some strong and sweet smell, it indicates that they are actually releasing harmful solvents.
