Super Healthy Pizza

If you are very busy and don’t have enough time to prepare the crust, then buy already prepared crust form the store. But if you do have time, then enjoy spending time with the super healthy pizza recipe.

Ingredients for the pizza crust

  • 2  1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2  1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

Ingredients for the pizza topping 

  • 3-4 tbs. homemade tomato sauce
  • several cherry tomatoes, sliced in halves
  • 1 small package of mushrooms, drained and halved
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese
  • fresh basil leaves
  • 1 garlic clove, minced ( optional)

Instructions:

To prepare this wheat pizza crust, combine the necessary ingredients for the dough in a food processor. When it is ready remove it and put it aside to stay for 50 minutes at room temperature to rise until doubled.

Roll out into a circle of desired crust thickness and let it rest for another 10 minutes. In the meantime prepare the desired topping and lay it over the crust. Start with the tomato sauce, continue with the veggies and finish with mozzarella.

Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F and bake for about 10-15 minutes until the vegetables are tender and the pizza base is crisp.When you remove it from the oven, toss over several fresh mint leaves and invite everyone in the house for this new pizza adventure.
